If the Kuwatis cannot, by now, have paid for an army of their own, then what the heck are we doing there?
McCain shows he doesn't know anything about warfare. Apparently, he doesn't understand that you can win the battle but lose the war.
Time has a cost. Five years for the Iraqi Army to get built out was the latest estimate. AND .. it started from last year.
That would be $10 billion/mo X 5 yrs X 12 mo/yr, or $600 billion more, before interest. For war-in-perpetuity? One trillion, seven-hundred eighty-five thousand, at 7%.(Direct costs only, without even guessing whether the Army could take such a thing without imploding, in one way or another).
Go get 'em John. You always - always - have to consider costs, especially in assymetric warfare, right? (Oh, and looking at quagmire costs as a justification for continuing has limited worth).
I have one question for John McCain: would he support a draft and why not? More troops could help to pacify the entire region and "defeat al qa'ida", right?
On the positive side, I'll give John some credit. He seems willing to admit that we can "lose" to al-qa'ida (whatever he means, exactly by that). Gosh and golly, that's a hellava lot more than Bush-Cheney ever admitted. Gone are the days of "We will prevail" and victory is assured to us, clearly. Now, we have to worry most about "defeat" ...
DNC compiles a case against John:
