THE GOP IS NOW 'AMERICAN LIKUD'
McCain has nothing to say. Peace through strength. The way to fight jihad and restore America's broken faith with the world is - continue with cold-war, Reagan-era strategies of total dominance. For pity's sake, how backwards is that?
Romney leaves the crowd repeating falsehoods about how/when the peace dividend started and with no mention about how it's all been spent - and then some - since "stay the course" became the GOP expedient political wartime cry (while they covered up their war crimes behind 'National Security Secrets').
McCain still thinks there is something for the American military to "win", even if it takes 100 years. Anything but full steam ahead under the same circumstances is ... surrender to al-qa'ida.
Poor John is bad at economics, afterall, coming up with this non-sequitur:
But I know that the costs in lives and treasure we would incur should we fail in Iraq will be far greater than the heartbreaking losses we have suffered to date. And I will not allow that to happen.
Oh, please. Do the math.
The brand new World Trade Center (not the old one) might cost $12 billion. We spend that each month. We'll be at it for seven years, or 84 months. Right, the "treasure" could have taken on 84 such attacks and still broken even versus what McCain has in mind.
That's before we even get to the huge run-up in oil costs and the massive increases that are coming - still! - in the baseline costs for the U.S. military - pay rises, expansion, and health care benefit improvements.
Finally, there is the opportunity cost of having not properly resourced the effort in Afghanistan.
No, McCain has absolutely no head for figures!
