The Lantern Festival ends the 15-day celebration of Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, and is celebrated the night of the first full moon of the lunar New Year

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Hordes of Taiwanese commonly swarm to temples around Taiwan before and during the Lunar New Year to pray for good luck.

But now with the help of technology, those seeking the attention of local deities can use the Internet, ATM machines and even cell phones to connect with the gods.

Several telecommunication companies, banks and convenience stores have launched "virtual lantern-lighting" and "virtual Taishuei-pacifying" services that enable people too busy to visit temples in person to still perform the rituals.

"
