Mark Penn is a fool?
Clinton ought to have shaken up her staff after N.H. Without knowing any of the people involved or even being closely acquainted with their strategy, I was able to perceive that as a good "Act II" move. If it is that clear from that far away, something is afoot.
But in the end, she's made her case fairly clearly and loudly. The mood of the country has just shifted toward risk-taking, as Democrats get confident of success in the fall. I expected the electorate to move to the Left by election time, but, admittedly, not to get risk-averse quite so much.
To be fair, Obama's "Act II" was a bit weak. Whether you think so or not, he IS coasting, although his message has gotten more refined in important ways. Now that he is on to ACT III, the pressure is on for him to show he can be Presidential in spades. (Michelle Obama is helping).
He thinks there is going to be a "debate with John McCain", from early indications. I hope he's using that as just a metaphor for the cold front headed toward the warm waters of his category 5 political winds ...
