"MARRIAGE AMENDMENTS" ARE DESIGNED TO PUNISH GAYS AND LESBIANS
This seems like a message that needs to hit the airwaves.
More evidence of the oppressive nature of the regimes being struck, under quickly adopted and ill-considered state-constitution amendments, is rolling in from Michigan:
LANSING, Mich. (AP) — A same-sex marriage ban prevents governments and universities in Michigan from providing health insurance to the partners of gay workers, the state Supreme Court ruled Wednesday.
The 5-2 decision affects up to 20 universities, community colleges, school districts and governments in Michigan with policies covering at least 375 gay couples.
There's already talk about people leaving Michigan. Soon, we are going to have organizations that refuse to do business in States with gay-relationship "Jim Crow" laws.
Some people in the black civil rights struggle refer to the post civil-war period as the second slavery. While there are differences, for sure, these super-"defense of marriage" laws are so mean spirited, it's hard to have any reaction that is tempered.
