The "Contract on America" is Cancelled, Phase II

AS catches Gingrich playing possum.

The truth is that "liberalism" as a political force is weak, not strong, right now, on many metrics.

Wins at the polls can deliver a false sense of security.

LIBERALISM IN AMERICA, TODAY, IS STILL WEAK, NOT STRONG

The truth is that, even at this late date in the primary cycle, the Democrats have not mounted nearly as effective an attack on small-government conservatism as Reagan Devolutionaries mounted against liberalism, when they managed to turn "liberal" into a four-letter word and paint it as synonymous with ... stagnation.

Another sign of weakness is that the "liberal party", a.k.a. the Democrats, have not successfully rebranded themselves, post Bush-era. The collapse of American Conservatism is falling into their laps, yet few are working studiously to corral it, ideologically.

There are two or three key areas in which the Dems could take action. One of them, fiscal responsibility, is a mortal wound to the GOP, yet the Dems may be still too much the party of corporate America truly to seize the day on that. The jury is still out... What do you think?
