...AND, what is the political Rx for 'reaction formulation'?

AS's reader comes up with a possible diagnosis for Senator Craig. It's "reaction formulation".

O.K.

Now, let's see if same reader can translate the treatment of that into a Rx for how the GOP ought to treat people it suspects of falling prey to it ...

To wit, does the GOP (a) re-enforce separation anxieties by ganging up on someone and insisting on resignation or (b) do something else.

My 2-bit sense is that there needs to be some kind of conditional separation, rather than a "forgiveness"; but those people who are refusing to return Craig's calls or even acknowledge that he still exists are probably being damaging.

In any case, here's a 'reaction formulation' and reference to one possible treatment regime below.

Not that I think it is wise to slap medical labels or diagnoses from long distances on people - that's ludicrous - but it is o.k. to have some ideas in mind, in order to judge how best to respond to a situation.
