Listening to Chris Matthews and feeling non-manufactured outrage!:
Bush politicized Petreaus? Bush has politicized ALL of his generals, right? So much that we even have people, reportedly, with proverbial pre-written resignation letters when the "bomb-Iran" orders come down ... !
What's more, Petreaus is the guy who gave an "exclusive" to FOX and almost went back for more. He may have well just put a sign across his chest, "I vote Republican."
FIGHTING BACK
Why not have the democratic leadership put up their own set of sense-of-the-Senate votes?
We had one vote for cutting off funding for the Office of the VP. Why not have another vote on it? I suspect that what the VP had done to deserve that vote is grounds for removal under the UCMJ, had he been an officer - I'm researching that, so take it as a preliminary, only, but almost every organization has penalties for failure to keep or provide appropriate records - so wouldn't he be judged unfit for command, which is at least as serious as the moveon.org ad, and probably more serious.
The idea that Bush has the moral authority to set himself up as protector of the military, when his policies have so abused them, including his dereliction of duty is astounding.
MEET THE PRESS
Senator Clinton way too tepid in responding to questions about moveon.org.
It's fine to call for everyone to stop wholesale or personal attacks on the military, but she ought to find her own "inner outrage" about the hypocrisy of how others are using this issue.
Where was Republican outrage when Shinseki was being trashed for reasons of "policy"?
