This Week's Gambit

It's now going on 14 weeks and McCain has been unable to select a Vice President. Some leadership. It looks like he's set-up a three-way horse race, with each potential candidate acting like Vice-surrogate-in-Chief, in order to get the nod ...

MEDIA AFORETHOUGHT

Last weeks' news cycle was predominated by the economy, as I guessed. I have no clues about this week's, however. We'll see who nails it.

LET'S PARTY

The past three days have seen a lot of state Democratic party action. Holding state conventions: Washington, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Michigan, Virginia, and ... well, Iowa was supposed to, but ...

“In the interest of public safety and out of concern for Iowans impacted by the flooding and severe weather, we have decided to postpone the Iowa Democratic Party State Convention,” said Brennan. “As Iowans, we encourage everyone to work hand in hand with their neighbors on flood relief efforts across our state.”

A Wisconsin delegate was removed, after she said to a newspaper that she would vote for McCain in the fall. A poll says that Hillary wouldn't likely affect the Wisconsin vote, but that more like her as VP than Richardson, informally judged.

Egad! Nevada is ... down to 753 votes/voters.

The Michigan GOP is ... hitting Obama w/r/t the imperfect primary held in the state:

A blog post on the Michigan GOP's Web site said the [web]-ad was created "to remind Michigan voters that when they wanted to hear from Barack Obama, he took every opportunity to thumb his nose at them."

Getting to the National Cnvention is tough, if you're a mid-size fish:

Today [in Spokane], delegates to the national convention will gather to hear short speeches from those hoping to secure one of the few remaining at-large delegate seats. Delegates have been campaigning for a spot throughout the weekend convention, and some have even sent fliers to national delegates.
