McCain's Hypothalmus
The in-group and out-of-group for John McCain appear to be quite ... raw.
There is actually a fairly well recognized psychological profile for people who would prefer to like you, before they accord you full respect, i.e. are 'comfortable' dealing with you.
It's reminiscent of Bush, who sees the world in terms of "bad people" and of "good people". The latter he uses almost everyday to describe some one or another and even used it in his gratingly imperfect simple-man-of-faith routine to laud Queen Elizabeth of all people. (Seriously, she needs to be told by the American President that she is a "good person"?).
At least John may not be as bad as Richard Nixon, who had people helping him keep his "enemies" list.
The odd thing is that, using his weird calculus, McCain allows some LINOs, like Leiberman, into his circle and others. This confuses people, suggesting a superior diplomatic gene exists where there may be none.
THE HAND OF ROVE?
Did the McCain campaign see this assault coming? Is this why he went around the world, trying to look diplomatic?
This is what I'm talking about when I suggest that Obama needs to do something "strategic" to deal with the remaining issues he has on the table...
