This post is just embarrassing (for Andrew).
When AS was writing six months ago about the implication of Hillary's negatives, some were pointing to Obama's "don't know enough to have an opinion". Similar reservations about the prematurely declared end to Rovian politics, this cycle.
Andrew was very much persuaded, it seems, by Obama's book(s). You may as well ignore it, because it's not been read; and, as we've found out, it can be easily, deliberately misread and misrepresented.
Obama once said something about welcoming a debate with John McCain, as if that were the crux of the challenge before him, somehow. As I said back then, "I hope he's using that as just a metaphor for the cold front headed toward the warm waters of his category 5 political winds ..."
The good news is that he's got the communication skills to pull off a superior information and education program, about himself and about what he wants to define his bid for the Presidency. The question is whether he's got the sheer stamina and wherewithal to (a) bring it and (b) push-back the distractions without getting defined by them.
