Dem Debate, Part II

ABC NEWS: Withdrawal despite military recs "Are you saying I know better than the military?" - Gibson makes Iraq into a redline issue; Does U.S. Security blanket extend to Israel; Economy - Tax pledge for Dems?

On withdrawal:

Hillary does not equivocate. Holds her hand up, "Stop!". Looking strong, right or wrong. Some voters respond to that kind of thing - it took Bush to a second term, on the heels of duped soccer-moms, right?

BHO does good on mission versus tactics. Shows he knows the role. He's doing better than McCain, who follows the Generals, clearly. Sadly, forgets to emphasize a cost-benefit analysis, that the military doesn't have to do. Oh, well, it's just the most important job in the world (and God knows, McCain thinks that prolonged, violent nation-building is costless, as did Bush before him).

On blanket for Israel:

Hillary mops the floor, with regional approach to corralling Iran. Doesn't elaborate on what is necessary to stop their claim to peaceful pursuit of nuclear energy...

On taxes:

A tax pledge? Both candidates seem to be swinging and missing ... Obama is going for tax relief, as if we could somehow afford that, with a growing revenue gap.

This question, as answered, will only help the GOP. The Dems, through pandering on taxes, appear now to be as reckless fiscally as McCain.

Obama executes a "save" by suggesting pay-go, but that is not consistent with a tax pledge.

Hillary makes strong points about investing wisely, using tax dollars wisely. Finally says, "You know, Charlie, I'm going to have to look at see what the revenue situation is." She cleans up on this one, with a fine dismount worth nearly a 9.0.

Obama's raise-the-cap is not something I like, unqualified - Congress spends the trust fund revenues, it doesn't lock-box them.

ABC NEWS:

George S: Comes up with an Israel question couched as an Iran question: Given WWII - Attack on Israel as if it were an attack on the US.
George S: Plays McCain against candidates, rather than come up with a question himself. Asks for a Republican-style "tax pledge". {oh, George}
