Norman Mailer, "Faggot", Dead at 84

We get the last word, Norman.

Meanwhile ...

Everyone, including I, was sort of drawn to Norman's irascibility and unpredictability, but his charm was left to others (several) to find.

One can never really forget him fighting "intellectual pollution" with a gusto that might have frightened the prickly-penned conservatives.

Did he sacrifice too much for his art?

Who knows. It certainly afforded him an enviable license.

(NPR has a good web page.)
