Confused

What am I supposed to make of AS's intonement of John Lewis today?

They say consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds. Since I agree with that, perhaps we can just savor this lacuna for what it is.

Clearly, Lewis and AS are opposed at almost every pass. AS doesn't believe that "ENDA" legislation is a moral issue, right to wrong, a question of 'doing the right thing', as does Lewis. AS may think that discrimination is wrong, but that's not what Lewis is saying.

What's more, Lewis is part of that liberalism that so repels AS, the one that actually believes that the government should "do something", rather than go unheard or inert.

This last part is the most comic to me, which is why it is o.k. to just smile amusingly at this lacuna.
