Bush, GOP Prepare to Raise Taxes, Again

Estimated tax assessment for family of four for 1.4 trillion dollar "GWOT", before interest on debt, costs of oil price rise, increased medical care for soldiers, re-quip the military, etc., etc.

The GOP have raised taxes every year of the reign of George "The Decider".

They just haven't collected them yet, that's all.

MORE PLEASE - THE BILL FOR 'PETREAUS WEEK' COMES DUE

The White House will request an unpaid for increase in wartime funding, bringing FY2008 up to a whopping $190 Billion.

That will be nearly $16 billion a month, some $4 billion a month more than was originally thought.

The total appropriated, unpaid amount for the war runs just shy of $800, with perhaps another $400-$900 billion projected following optimistic and less optimistic scenarios.

PUNDITS, PRESS CONTINUE TO GET THE WAR COSTS WRONG

In many press accounts and many blogs the war costs estimates follow just what has been appropriated to date (some running as low as $600 billion). So much is not a conservative estimate, it is just an inaccurate one.

The cost of the "GWOT" is far away higher (more if you include the GOP's immigration hysteria). Have a look at the tables on the lower right to refresh your memory, if you haven't looked in a while. These estimates are designed to be conservative.

[Note, the tables are not yet updated to reflect this additional-additional supplemental, nor the steep rise in the price of oil this year, rather than the fall in average price versus 2006 that was assumed.]

WILL REPUBLICANS NOT INSIST THAT WAR COSTS BE 'PAID FOR' WHEN THEY ARE NOT IN POWER?

Don't bet your house on it ... Or, maybe that would be your car, because that is about as much as the per family costs of the war are approaching, the price of a new car.
