If you haven't, try to catch Mozart Dances by Mark Morris's Dance Group, making the rounds on public television. There are parts of it that are genius. I'd love for Mark to have tried to syncopate the dance to the music, to see where that might go.
Not too long ago I saw (at the City Center) a beautiful company piece set to a Bach ... sonata, as best I recall, that was effortless and riveting.
