We all know, now, that the secret of Phelps's in-pool success was Lil Wayne, who helped him even to eclipse Plaxico in cross-country competition. But, clearly, the stand-up, cutaway winner of the year, in terms of product placement (puns intended), was Speedo (pic-top).

Although Phelps eclipsed Mark Spitz in medal tonnage, it's not clear that Spitz's iconic Speedo shot from the 70s, that made it to posters and beyond, wasn't ... more iconic. Spitz, of course, had the mustache (and the times).
Phelps, on the other hand, did the fierce goatee, seriously, (and the star-spangled routine), but everyone knows that it was Ryan Lochte who was the q-t-pie of the team, right?
