The Honesty Thing and the Reagan Hat Tip

AS seems to be on the bandwagon that we're supposed to laud Obama's assessment of his weaknesses, because they were honest.

But, were they wise?

I don't know Obama well. This, coupled with the statements about Reagan, makes it look like we're in for a hands-off President, who makes decisions without paper. Now I want to know, does Obama read briefings cover-to-cover? Is he known for thoroughness, or is policy just a pick-up game or a bring-'em-together-process? Does he take a hand in reviewing legislation, or does he rely on his aides?

The press certainly isn't helping me to find out what the management style of the various candidates might be. Instead of picking up the story by filling out how the candidates view "leadership" vs. "management", using interviews of those who have worked with them, they are going with face-value and the he-said, she-said routine.

REMEMBERING REAGAN

Meanwhile, recall how this blog suggested that Obama doesn't exude a sense for the sweep of liberal politics? Well, OpenLeft agrees:

But if you think, as Obama does, that Reagan's rise to power was premised on a sunny optimism in contrast to an out of control government and a society rife with liberal excess, then you don't understand the conservative movement. Reagan tapped into greed and fear and tribalism, and those are powerful forces.-link
