Face-off: Craig vs. Senators Who Knew It

The GOP's Pink Triangle: Vitter, Craig, and the Senators who knew one and "forgave" the other.

The good folks over at ThinkProgress capture a TV clip of Bob Novak: Senate Conservatives Knew About Craig’s ‘Weird Conduct,’ ‘Didn’t Do Anything About It’

Could Craig be betting that a trial by peers is a standoff, if some knew about it? It might explain why he's been so steadfast and brazen beyond reason in refusing to resign.

And, on one hand, can you blame him for it? The Senate welcomes with applause Senator Vitter, who confessed publicly to illegal prostitution, just not to a judge; but they choose to eschew Craig?

There is no avoiding that Craig is going to continue to be lampooned (he ought to resign because of his own hypocrisies, even as reigning in "stings" is a worthy goal); but the issue of how the GOP find illicit non-gay sex somehow "forgivable" yet want to drum out illicit gay sex is a spectacle that they cannot be hoping to pursue, ... or is it?

Whatever the case, if what Novak said is true, then this story has legs.
