Pardon Libby? Hardly.

I have to laugh at the case being made for 'no underlying crime'.

Observers seem to agree that Plame remains the only covert agent to have ever been 'uncovered' by her own government. Even if we can find a few attorneys who will twist the meaning of 'covert identities protection', at a minimum, someone is guilty of 'criminal misjudgment', right? Tickle me with a feather, but the idea that there is 'no harm, no foul' apart from perjury is jaw dropping.

What's more, while the emboldened GOP back-benchers are chiding for a quick pardon, it's worth recalling that the White House, in a breach of public trust, promised an investigation into the matter which never occurred.

ROUND 2?

Anyway, as long as Libby was never charged or prosecuted 'under the relevant statute', that means there could be a round two - for him and others, if an early pardon riles the public sense of more politicization of justice from this White House ...
