Faith and Politicians

On the weekend, James Carville observed that the good news is that, because the Nation is ready for a change, the Democrats have to 'talk their way out of this one.'

The bad news, he said, is that they are perfectly capable of doing so.

This is the perspective from which I dared to watch CNN's interrogation of politicians along faith-based lines. I'm afraid that this talky-talk will be fuel on the fires of faith-based division, rather than be a show that liberal doesn't equal Godless, as some would have it.

As Senator Obama said that the Civil War was a just war, in his view, and Edwards gave an unsupported, unargued "personal view" on gay marriage, I felt the venue's political merits slipping away ...
