A conflict so important we could only win it six months at a time

Almost missed this one.

Andy Bacevich upbraids Petreaus for lack of moral leadership.

From the Right.

While I think that Petreaus has been playing for the asset he doesn't have, time, I'd bet he's calculated that his path of least resistance is softly, quietly.

But I have to say that Andy's view is compelling.

I had the distinct impression that, politically, Petreaus may have won the battle, but lost the (Long) war.

Does he have more than one moment? It's very doubtful.
