Earmark Abuse

The Senate voted down further earmark reform this week. (Clinton, Obama, McCain - who has made it a centerpiece of his talky-talk all were defeated).

Are earmarks a beneficial and legitimate way to divvy up how the pie gets split in America? Or, are they mostly an invitation to abuse(s)?

Well, here's why just some basic sunshine can cut out some of the potential problems with self-dealing, real or just perceived:
