Where the Responsibility "Lies"

SHOULD BUSH-CHENEY DO THE TIME THAT LIBBY WAS SPARED?

If Bush delegates authority to Cheney, and Cheney uses that power in an illegal manner, then either Bush needs to hold Cheney accountable for that, or else congress and the public need to hold Bush accountable. Having the buck stop with Cheney creates a terrible set of forward-looking incentives. -Matt Y, quoted by AS

I don't know what incentives MY has in mind. Incentives to impeach underlings?

THE GOP CORRUPTION

At the level of Cheney, et. al., you can't say you were just pleasuring the President, so "it doesn't count". Neither can Scooter say that he was tasked by Cheney, therefore, he's not responsible (not for the perjury, but for his likely complicity in abuse of authority).

The "GOP Machine", drunk with the Reagan Devolution delusions of a permanent majority, has caused people to forget that you resign, when your boss asks you to do something wrong (not just illegal, but wrong).

Of course Cheney can continue to mask his involvement, refusing most recently to show exactly what documents he's had a hand in getting classified, but we know from first-hand accounts that he has been deeply involved.

I know that AS just recently passed the line, after the Scooter commutation, to having no regard for the Bush-system. Indeed, some days, the Bush crew look like our American pre-version of walking PIFWCs.
