Six Weeks in January

PLAYING POLITICS - THE LATEST GOP MOLEHILL

Let me see, coming on ten years into the 'war' on al-qaeda, a period that includes having let the Taliban retreat and UBL with them and no obvious end in sight, the Republicans are fixated on six weeks of silence from one guy, that they believe might have changed the outcome of ... what, exactly? The course of a 'war' that looks like it will go on and on, for a while now?

The guy, Abdulmutallab, was arrested in public and his name was all over the international press.

However misguided Miranda might be in this case, it seems highly unlikely, if not outright incredible, that the timing of any information would have been critical to anything, right? I mean whatever part of his network was in place was probably rolled up, to the extent it could be, in the immediate wake of his failed "mission".

So, once again, we have the GOP making up national security monsters, rather than looking at the ones in the mirror..
