The key is that the "results" are targeted to be published simultaneously with the IPCC release. What reputable 'scientist' cravenly schedules his research for the maximum possible political benefit, especially when "AEI has published a large volume of books and papers on climate change issues over the past decade and has held numerous conferences on the subject"?
I mean everyone works on "hot" topics, but ... this looks more like plumbing for witnesses for the defense.
