On Krauthammer and Distractions

Charles has shrunk into a very little man, of late. Have you noticed the shrill character of his exotic screeds? He's becoming a pundit-piƱata, I'm sorry to say, because he used to write informative essays.

LIVE, FROM THE CLONE CAR

To see how far away from shore he's rowed, compare/contrast with his own back-benches. Here's NRO's McCarthy, lashing out at "distractions", a category that Charles now denies exists ...:

Senator McCain appears to have been smeared by the Times. I'm sorry that happened, but if indignation is the order of the day, count me out. You see, I also feel sorry — really sorry — for the intelligence officers who've been maligned as torturers, for those who want the immigration laws enforced and are libeled as racists, for those who doubt the wisdom of campaign finance reform and are glibly scandalized as promoters of public corruption, and so on. Each of these Gray Lady smears ....

...The Times is a politicized rag and no one should take satisfaction in seeing McCain subjected to its journalistic version of waterboarding.

For the Record

Jonah still getting a stealth erection over Dr. Jeremiah Wright and the rest of the GOP's freak show Eye-of-Sauron.

VICKI'S NON-STORY STORY

So, when the news about McCain's relationship with Viki the influencer was unveiled, why the big, concerted, synchronized, attack on The New York Times?

Seriously, I'm interested in knowing more about why McCain's staff had to intervene to save the Senator from himself, from "bad appearances". I think that's exactly the kind of non-distraction distraction that we need to know more about. It calls into question everything we know about the Senator's judgment "over 20 years", leading up to that event.

Afterall, the standard is set so low, the NYT should have felt obliged, right Jonah?:

Anything that gives us a clue as to what those might be is not only fair game, it is the game.

I THINK I NEED A SHOWER, AFTER THAT RUBBISH

Anything? anything?

... and then they complain that it is liberals who coarsen the culture, when they just embraced, on the pages of the LA Times, no less, a politics that teaches kids that "anything" is fair game.

People probably think I exaggerate when I say "den of vipers" in connection with the NR crowd.

Here's to a long and trying wilderness period for them. I really hope that everyone votes for that.
